It's Bernese. (Pronounced bur - knees)

Welcome to bernerbreeders.com
Our Breeders of Excellence and educators invite you to learn about our wonderful dogs and determine if a Berner is the right dog for you. This website lists breeders who are all members of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America (BMDCA), and who have agreed to abide by certain guidelines which can be seen here [guidelines]. Each of the breeders listed has puppies available, or older dogs in need of new homes. They have all done their best to try to produce well bred healthy puppies with good temperaments. In order to do that, they have tested the parents for a number of different health issues in order to make their breeding decision with as much information as possible. They will provide you with copies of those tests, and can help explain to you why they are so important.

Breeders and Available Puppies

We have also provided some additional tools to use in understanding how to select a good breeder. You can also use tools such as www.bernergarde.org and www.offa.org in your research. It is up to you to make the choice, and you want to choose a breeder who stacks the deck in favor of producing the best puppies. Breeding dogs that are free of certain health problems makes it more likely that the puppies will also be free of those problems. Some breeders will elect to breed a dog with specific problems for a number of reasons, but they will be able to explain why they did so, and just what they did to try to ensure that the puppies won’t have that problem.

This website isn’t designed to teach you all that you need to know in order to choose a breeder, there are many others that can assist with that. Visit these informative sites:

Familiarize yourself with the potential problems, and learn how breeders try to eliminate the conditions from their breeding programs.
